Wildcat JV Golf in Eighth Place After Two Rounds of 49er Collegiate Classic

INDUSTRY, Calif.-The University of Arizona men's JV golf team posted rounds of 303 and 295 to claim a share of eighth place after day one of the 49er Collegiate Classic being held at Zaharias Golf Club. Senior Ben Clark led the Wildcats, shooting rounds of 3-over-par 75 and even-par 72 to stand tied for 14th place.

UCLA leads the 17-team field after two rounds, the Bruins carded team rounds of 293 and 281 to assume a 2-stroke lead over second-place Texas Christian. Individually, Toledo's Alan Murray holds the lead. Murray fired rounds of 8-under-par 64 and 2-under-par 70. The tournament wraps up action Friday.

Also in the top-20 for the Wildcats is senior Brandon Smith. Smith, from Veradale, Wash., sits tied for 20th place with six other golfers at 4-over-par. Also scoring for Arizona were junior Brian Woolf and freshmen Stephen Eshbach and Nathan Lashley. Woolf is tied for 31st place after posting rounds of 1-over-par 73 and 5-over-par 77. Eshbach shares 43rd place at 11-over-par, while Lashley is in 75th place at 20-over-par.

Action at the 49er Collegiate Classic concludes Friday.
