TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona softball pitcher/first baseman Jennie Finch
was named an All-American Athlete for 2002 by the National Strength and
Conditioning Association. Finch was nominated by her strength and
conditioning coach, Carla Garrett due to Finch*s dedication to strength
training and conditioning.
Finch has won 56 consecutive games, an NCAA record, and is 16-0
this year with for the No. 2 Wildcats.
The 2002 All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes are
recognized for athletic accomplishments, personal and academic
achievements, community involvement, and leaderships qualities. 184
athletes from 84 universities and colleges from around the country in 19
sport categories were acknowledged for their hard work in and out of the
weight room.
The Cats return home tomorrow when they face Simon Fraser at 7
p.m. in an exhibition game.
