TUCSON - San Diego State's Deanna Richards pitched a one-hitter to lead
SDSU to an 8-0 shutout over New Mexico State in Arizona's HIllenbrand
Invitational softball tournament.
Richards pitched no-hit ball for five innings before New Mexico State's
Berna Carrillo led off the sixth with a bloop single to center. But Aztec
third baseman Klecy Murphy turned a popped bunt into a double play on the
next batter to stymie NMSU.
San Diego State scored two runs in the bottom of the first with one run
crossing on a wild pitch and the other when Janna Kovensky stole home
uncontested as part of a double-steal play.
The Aztecs scored six unearned runs in the sixth when NMSU twice committed
errors with the bases loaded, and ended the game on the eight-run rule with
an RBI single by Bridgette Caron.
