Head Coach Joan Bonvicini: “Pokey has gotten better. Dee-Dee is better. Danielle had a nice game tonight. Both Natalie and Shannon had solid games. For the younger players, it was their first Red-Blue Game so they were jittery to begin. Jessica was solid.”
“We need to make sure we execute the offense and our defense needs to be solid.”
“The starting line-up will develop over the next two weeks. We will be improved the next time we play.”
“I want Dee-Dee to be a vocal leader. I want her at time to speak up more.”
Junior center Shawntinice Polk: “It was a little different out there. I was really frustrated with myself because I didn’t do very much to help the team tonight. But I will go back and look at tape and fix my mistakes.”
“We had a good effort tonight. We worked hard together. I really wish Joy could play. All the freshman worked hard.”
Senior point guard Dee-Dee Wheeler: “It felt great to be out there. I’m tired of practicing against each other. I want to get out there against other competition.”
“I am really excited [about our team]. Despite our flaws we can learn from the mistakes.”
“I’m just trying to be more vocal. I relish being the leader. I’ve been in that role since coming the Arizona. I need to be more vocal though. I lead more by example than anything.”
