TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball player Hassan Adams was an all-region selection by Basketball Times. It marks Adams' first career all-district selection.
Adams was named to the Basketball Times' all-Rockies team, one of seven regional teams throughout the nation. Also named to the squad were Ike Diogu of Arizona State, Danny Granger of New Mexico, David Harrison of Colorado and Kirk Snyder of Nevada. The all-Rockies region coach of the year was Joe Scott of Air Force.
Adams, a 6-foot-4, 201-pound, sophomore forward from Los Angeles, Calif., enjoyed his best collegiate season by averaging a career-best 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 30 games this season. He connected on 54.2 percent of his field goal attempts (200-of-369) and finished the 2003-04 campaign as the Wildcats' leading scorer. Adams also ranked second on the club in field goal percentage, blocked shots (45) and steals (45), and third in rebounds per game average.
Arizona finished 2003-04 with a 20-10 record (11-7 Pac-10) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 20th consecutive season. Currently, the Wildcats are scheduled to return 10 of 12 letterwinners in 2004-05.
