TUCSON, Ariz. (November 6, 1998) - UCLA forward Staci Duncan scored two goals and led the 20th-ranked Bruins to a 4-0 win over the University of Arizona in a Pacific-10 Conference game at Murphy Stadium.
Duncan opened scoring in the 22nd minute, putting in a shot from the top of the 18-foot box. UCLA forward Traci Milburn added a second goal in the 24th minute from the top-left corner of the box.
Duncan scored her second goal of the game, off the drive from 12 feet out, in the 63rd minute to put the Bruins up 3-0. Venus James finished off the scoring in the 84th minute. Lauren Emblem crossed a ball in front of the goal, and James tapped it in for the score.
UCLA out-shot Arizona 26 to 13. The Bruins had 13 shots on goal to the Wildcats' five.
Bruin goalkeepers Lindsay Culp and Julie Kapcala combined for the shutout. Culp had three saves before she was lifted in the 74th minute. Kapcala finished the game with two saves. Arizona keeper Inger Airheart finished with eight saves for the Wildcats.
Forward Nikki Jones led the Wildcats with three shots, while Kim McGhee and Brooke McManus each had two. Duncan led all players with seven shots, while Breana Boling had four for the Bruins.
Arizona dropped to 3-9-1 overall, 0-5-0 in the Pac-10 Conference. UCLA improved to 16-8-1, 6-2-0.
