Arizona Men's Tennis Travels to San Diego

This Week: The University of Arizona men's tennis team will travel to San Diego, Calif. for the University of San Diego All-Collegiate Tournament, Oct. 12-14. The Cats are also finishing play this week at the ITA All-American Championship in Stone Mountain, Ga., which runs through Oct. 14. Senior Steven Capriati will face Andrew Colombo of Auburn in Tuesday's qualifying round of singles.

Fall Play: The Wildcats finished in seventh place at the WTT National Collegiate Championships, Sept. 28-30. Capriati finished the tournament at 3-2 in singles play, and the pair of Capriati and sophomore Carl Hagman went 1-4 in doubles action. The doubles team of sophomore Whi Kim and junior Tom Lloyd started the season 2-1 at the ITA All-American Championships last weekend, but have been eliminated from doubles play. On the singles side, Kim's record is 2-1 and Lloyd's is 0-1 at the ITA All-American Championships. Cats in the Polls: To start the 2001-02 season, junior Steven Capriati earned a preseason ranking of 67 from the ITA, while sophomore Carl Hagman was 97.

Last Match: The Wildcats placed seventh at the World Team Tennis National Collegiate Championships in San Diego, Calif. Capriati is still in action at the ITA All-American Championships in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Next Match: The Wildcats will travel to Tempe, Ariz., Oct. 19-21, for the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate Invitational.
