TUCSON, Ariz.- Senior outside hitter Lisa Rutledge today earned second team Verizon Academic All-District VIII honors. The four-year starter becomes the second volleyball player in as many years to garner academic all-district honors at Arizona.
Rutledge, from Vista, Calif., has posted a 3.53 cumulative grade point average in psychology while helping to lead Arizona this season on the court. She currently leads UA in digs, is second in kills and kills per game and recently moved into third on Arizona's career kills list.
In order to be eligible for academic all-district honors a player must have at least a 3.20 GPA, must be a starter of significant reserve and be in at least their second season of competition at their current school.
Former Wildcat All-American Jill Talbot was named third team Academic All-District VIII last season.
