University of Arizona sophomore distance runner Tara Chaplin ran an NCAA
provisional qualifying time in the women's 5,000m Saturday night at the
Cannon IV Classic in Indianapolis.
Chaplin, who was the first Arizona freshman to compete in five NCAA
Championship events during her first year of college last season, finished
fourth in the event in 16:35.18.
In other action at the Cannon IV, junior Mike Kenyon finished fouth in the
men's 400m in 47.66. Senior Micheil Jones finished sixth in the men's 3,000m
in 8:14.52, and senior Carolyn Jackson was fifth in the women's 400m in 55.23.
The Wildcats resume competition next Saturday in a dual meet against Arizona
State and Northern Arizona at the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, Ariz.
