PULLMAN, Wash. - After the first day of events in the Pac-10 Combined Championships in Pullman, Wash., Arizona's Amanda Underwood sits in ninth place out of the ten athletes competing in the heptathlon. She finished the day with a total of 2,688 points. Ellanne Richardson of Washington State is the current leader with 3,373 points.
Underwood's best event of the day was her second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 37-3 ľ (11.37m). In the 200m dash, she was ninth in 26.66. Underwood was also ninth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.52. In the high jump, she finished tenth at 4-8 ľ (1.44m).
Underwood will complete the heptathlon tomorrow in Pullman, Wash. The rest of the events include: long jump, triple jump, javelin throw and 800m.
The rest of the Wildcat track and field team will be in action next week at the Pac-10 Conference Championships, also in Pullman, Wash.
