2005 (Senior): Looks to help lead the women in the sprints and relays... Will be a strong player for Arizona at the conference and regional levels... 2004 (Junior): Ran several strong races en route to a very successful junior season... Clocked a time of 8.94 seconds in the indoor 60-meter hurdles... Broke the minute-barrier in the 400-meter hurdles at the double-dual with ASU and NAU with a time of 59.95 seconds... Posted a season’s best time of 14.25 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles... Qualified for the Pac-10 and NCAA West Region Championships... 2003 (Sophomore): Had the team’s fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles (59.73 seconds)... Member of the 4x400 meter relay squad... Pac-10 qualifier in the 400 meter hurdles... 2002 (Freshman): Finished her first collegiate track and field season with the team’s top time in the 400 meters and in the 400-meter hurdles... Finished ninth at the Pac-10 Championships in the 400-meter hurdles.

 

High School

Mountain Pointe High School, Phoenix, Ariz.: Earned four letters in track and field, two in volleyball and one in wrestling... Named team captain for three years and most valuable athlete for one year...  Earned all-region honors in 2000 and 2001... Won the Student-Athlete of the Year award in 1999, 2000 and 2001... Placed second in the 300m hurdles and fourth in the 100m hurdles at the 2001 Arizona track and field state championships... Holds school records in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and the 4x400m relay... Team won the state title in 2000 and 2001, and was the runner-up in 1999 and finished third in 1998.

 

Personal: Chelsea Victoria Powell... Born April 2, 1983, in Las Cruces, N.M... Daughter of Richard Powell and Barbara Powell... Has one older sister, Johnna... Participates in fitness and sport aerobics competitions... Academic major is media arts, with an interest in digital animation.
