Walnut Creek, Calif. ?- Arizona senior Monica Bisordi was named to the 2005 Pacific-10 Conference Women’s Gymnastics All-Conference team as an all-around performer, the Pac-10 Conference announced Wednesday night.
The All-Conference teams consist of the top six all-around competitors, plus the top three competitors in each individual event. A gymnast's score is determined by a combination of 50 percent regional qualifying score (entire season composite) and 50 percent Pacific-10 Conference Championships score.
Bisordi, a 5-1 senior from San Mateo, Calif., earned All-Conference honors for the fourth time in her career. In 2002, she earned All-Conference accolades on the beam and in the all-around. Last season, she was named to the All-Conference for the first time on floor and went on to earn second team All-American honors in the event.
Earlier this season Bisordi became the program’s all-time leading scorer, and also became the only Arizona gymnast to surpass the 2,000-point barrier. Her 466.425 points scored this season raises her career total to 2,081.865.
Additionally, Bisordi was named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week for Feb. 14-21. It marked the second time in her career she earned such honors.
Bisordi is the only Wildcat to compete as an all-arounder in all 12 meets this season. She has competed in the all-around 50 times in her career, including a stretch of 20 straight dating back to last season. Previously, she put together a streak of 29 straight all-around appearances.
On the season, Bisordi has captured a team-best 40 top-five finishes, including one vault title, one bars title, six beam titles and four all-around titles.
Last week, Bisordi finished fourth in the all-around at the Pac-10 Championships with a score of 39.175 while leading Arizona to a second-place finish, equaling its best finish in school history.
The No. 18 Wildcats will travel to Lincoln, Neb., to compete at the NCAA South Central Regional Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, April. 9.
