TUCSON, Ariz. ?- Arizona juniors Trevor Crowe and Jordan Brown have been named All-America by USA Today Sports Weekly, the publication announced on Wednesday. Crowe, the Pac-10 leader in eight offensive statistical categories, garnered first-team honors, while classmate Brown was named second-team.
Crowe, a finalist for the 2005 Golden Spikes Award and a semi-finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, leads the high powered Arizona offense with a .429 average, 76 runs scored, 100 hits, 24 doubles, a school and Pac-10 record 13 triples, nine home runs, 53 RBI and 23 stolen bases. Arizona’s leadoff hitter, he leads the Pac-10 in slugging percentage at .760, a figure that ranks fifth in the nation.
Second-teamer Brown leads the Pac-10 in RBI this season with 74 runs driven in. Hitting .333 for the season, he has collected 16 doubles, three triples and 12 home runs for Arizona in 2005.
The All-America recognition is the first for both players in their three-year careers at Arizona.
