Wildcats post eight-under 560
TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona men’s golf team carded a 560 total though two rounds to stand in seventh place Monday at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.
Arizona’s effort Monday included identical four-under 280 totals in each round and placed the team seventh in the 12-team field with an eight-under 560. Host Alabama leads the field with a 26-under total of 542, four strokes ahead of Texas Tech. UAB (551), Texas (556) and Georgia State (557) rounded out the top-five places.
Three Wildcats currently stand at par or better in the tournament, as Travis Esway, Ben Fox and Pedro Oriol are all within the top 32 places. Esway carded a two-round 140 (-2) and is tied for 22nd place. Fox shot a one-under 141 and is tied for 30th place, while Oriol tallied an even-par 142 and is tied for 32nd place.
Trey Denton carded a two-over 144 and is tied for 37th place, while Nathan Tyler tallied a 10-over 152 and is tied for 56th place.
The Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate continues tomorrow at the Old Overton Club, a par 71, 6,958-yard layout.
