Harry Messick

Harry Messick was a member of some of The University of Arizona’s greatest baseball teams. In 1956, Harry’s batting average was .345 and he led the team in triples (11) and home runs (7). That year, the Wildcats went to Omaha for the World Series and lost in the finals to Minnesota. In 1957, Harry led the team in triples (6) and in 1958, the Wildcats went back to Omaha behind the slugging of Harry who had a .305 batting average and again led the team in triples (8) and home runs (7).
Harry was a second team ACBA All-America in 1958 as a first baseman and was named to All District 6 Baseball Tournament Team for all three years that he played. Harry was also named team captain in 1958. Harry signed a professional contract with the Cleveland Indians in 1958 and played for a year and a half.
