TUCSON--The University of Arizona men's basketball team will gear up for its third consecutive road game -- in three states spanning the country -- with a Saturday contest at San Diego State in the San Diego Slam Tournament. UA is fresh off a victory over Louisville at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Cats, 6-1 overall and ranked No. 14 by AP, face an 8-1 Aztec club that lost its first game of the year on the road Saturday at Western Michigan, 84-63. The Aztecs received votes in this week's AP poll and are off to a superb start. The preliminary game in the two-contest tourney at Cox Arena on the SDSU campus features Ball State vs. Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys beat Syracuse in the opening game of the Jimmy V Classic in New York.
That opener in San Diego is scheduled for 4 p.m. (PST) with the UA-SDSU game slated for 6:30 p.m. (PST).
UA returned to Tucson via air charter early Wednesday morning on a flight from New York. It played last Saturday in Phoenix, beating Illinois.
The SDSU game will be produced for television by Channel 4 in San Diego and shown on Cox Cable systems in Tucson (Channel 22), Phoenix, Orange County, New Orleans, New England, Tulsa, and on Comcast Cable in Tucson (Channel 17),
