Track and Field Signs Six to National Letters of Intent

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona track and field program signed six athletes to National Letters of Intent during the spring signing period, head coach Fred Harvey announced on Tuesday. The team signed five during the fall signing period.

Arizona Track and Field 2006 Spring Recruiting Class:

Keith Capecci, New Hope, Penn.

Finished 21st at the 2005 Footlocker High School Nationals for cross country. Has personal best times of 9:15 in the 3,200 meter and 4:23 in the 1,600 meters.

Jasmin Day, Costa Mesa, Calif.

Day won the California State Meet in the high jump with her height of 1.75m (5-9). This height is also her personal best. Coach Blockburger coached her sister, Sharon, at Cal-Poly. She was the NCAA champion in the high jump in 2005 with her clearance of 1.93m (6-04).

Adele Keating, Paradise Valley, Ariz.

Adele is a three-time 5A regional cross country champion (2003, 2004, 2005). She was the 2005 USATF State Champion in the 2000m Steeplechase, and is the USATF state record holder in the same event. Also a member of the Arizona state champion 4x800-meter relay team (2005 and 2006) that recorded the second fastest time in state history. Her mother, Krista Joseph, was a member of the Arizona track and field and cross country teams during the 1970s.

Elizabeth Patterson, Rowlett,TX

Patterson competed in the high jump for North Garland High School. She placed second at Texas Relays with her personal best clearance of 1.73m (5-8).

Tifney Reeve, Mission Viejo, Calif.

Finished eighth at the 2005 California State Championships in the 400 meters. Has a personal best in the event of 55.24.

Tiffany Sorrell, Window Rock, Ariz.

Sorrell was the 2006 Arizona Division 3A state champion in the 3,200 meters, as well as the runner up in the 1,600 meters. She was also the state runner-up during the 2005 cross country season.
