TUCSON, Ariz. ?- Senior Brad Boyer was taken by the San Francisco Giants with their pick in the 13th round of the 2006 MLB First Year Player Draft. It marked the second time in the last two years the infielder has been taken in the draft. He was selected by Seattle in the 14th round last year, but opted to return to UA.
Boyer, among the all-time leaders at Arizona in games played (216), at bats (857), runs (218), hits (265), triples (26) and stolen bases (73), finished the 2006 season with a .323 batting average while leading the Wildcats with nine triples, 65 runs scored and 21 stolen bases.
In the 2006 regular season, Boyer became just the fourth player in school history to score 200 or more runs in career at UA, joining former Wildcat greats Dave Stegman, Chip Hale and Les Pearsey.
A four-year starter for the Wildcats, Boyer was member of three postseason clubs, including the 2004 team that advanced to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
