TUCSON, Ariz. ?C The University of Arizona menˇ?s golf team shot a 299 Monday and stands in 17th place at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla.
Arizonaˇ?s second-round 299 (+11) led to a two-round total of 600 (+24) kept the Wildcats in 17th place, 34 strokes behind the tournament-leading Georgia. Wake Forest (570), USC (571), Oklahoma State (573) and Clemson (577) round out the top-five places in the 18-team field.
Tarquin MacManus, the only Wildcat under par through the first 36 holes, jumped 12 places up the leader board after carding a second-round 69 (-3). After two rounds, the Cairns, Queensland, Australia, native is tied for fifth place at 140 (-4). MacManus is two strokes behind Oklahoma Stateˇ?s Rickie Fowler and USCˇ?s Jamie Lovemark, who share the tournament lead.
Seniors Creighton Honeck and Trey Denton are tied for 69th place at 153 (+9). Junior Tyler Neal is tied for 73rd at 10-over 154. Freshman Andrew Kelly is in 90th place at 29-over 173.
