TUCSON, Ariz. ?C The University of Arizona menˇ?s golf shot a third round 365 (+5) and finished in eighth place Wednesday at the CordeValle Collegiate in San Martin Calif.
UAˇ?s final-round effort, which was the teamˇ?s lowest of the tournament, gave the team a 54-hole total of 1,102 (+22) and an eighth place standing in the 11-team event, which takes the low five scores from each six-man team per round. Host UCLA won the event by 11 strokes with a 12-under 1,068 total. Stanford (1,079) and USC (1,087) occupied the next two spots.
Freshman Roberto Galletti was the top-finishing Wildcat individually, as tied for 19th place at two-over 218. Trey Denton tied for 31st place at five-over 221, while Tyler Neal finished 37th at six-over 222. Freshman Jonathan Khan collected UAˇ?s low round of the tournament with a final round 67 (-5). The effort moved the Tucson native into a tie for 38th place at 223 (+7).
Creighton Honeck tied for 40th place at eight-over 224, while Tarquin MacManus finished 61st. MacManus tallied a 16-over 232.
The CordeValle Collegiate was contested at CordeValle Country Club, a par 72, 7,169-yard layout. The Wildcats will next be in action at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate in January.
