For the past three years he has served as a non-coaching graduate aide, working on recruiting, scouting, travel and video projects as well as various office-related functions. He worked on similar catch-all responsibilities for UA football as a student from 2001 to 2003.
Weidinger began his involvement with UA football as a volunteer student in 2000, when he enrolled at the university. He received a degree in political science in May 2004 and was to complete his master’s degree in information resources and library sciences in May 2007.
Weidinger spent late summer and early fall in 2006 in a pre-season internship with the Atlanta Falcons. He assisted in scouting and evaluating potential personnel from among players on all teams throughout the league. The job entailed creating resource materials on specific prospects, meeting with free agents, tracking league personnel moves by other teams, and charting performance of special teams prospects.
