TUCSON, Ariz. ?C The University of Arizona menˇ?s golf team shot a12-over-par 300 Saturday and finished eighth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M.

Arizonaˇ?s 12-over final round tally gave the Wildcats a three-round total of 888 (+24) and an eighth-place placement in the 17-team field. Pepperdine won the tournament with an even-par total of 864, five strokes ahead of San Diego State. Colorado (873), Ohio State (877) and Utah (881) rounded out the top-five places.
Wildcat freshman Tarquin MacManus earned his first collegiate top-20 finish after posting UAˇ?s low round of the day. The Cairns, Queensland, Australia, product shot a one-over 73 and finished the 54-hole event tied for 14th place at four-over 220.
Senior Creighton Honeck carded a five-over 221 to tie for 18th place, while freshman Roberto Galletti tied for 39th place after posting a nine-over 225. Freshman Andrew Kelly and junior Tyler Neal finished in a tie for 65th and 69th place, respectively.
Two Wildcats competed in the field as individuals, Trey Denton and Nicholas Park. Denton tied for 18th place with a five-over 221 total, while Park tied for 34th place with an eight-over 224.
The William H. Tucker Intercollegiate was hosted by the University of New Mexico. The Championship course is a par-72, 7,350-yard layout.
Arizona will next be in action on Oct. 9-10, when the club travels to Reno, Nev., to participate in the Wolfpack Classic.
