TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball player Chase Budinger was named a preseason All-American by collegehoops.net.
Budinger, a 6-foot-7, 218-pound junior forward from Encinitas, Calif., was a third-team selection by the college basketball website. He was one of three Pac-10 players to be included on CHN's four preseason All-America teams.
Budinger averaged 17.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in 2007-08 as a sophomore, while leading the team with 73 three-point field goals. He scored in double figures 29 times last year, and shot .446 percent from the field and .380 percent from three-point range. Budinger averaged 34.3 minutes per game last season.
A starter in each of his 65 games during his two year career, Budinger is just the sixth player in Arizona history to score 1,000 career points in two seasons. He is averaging 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists for his career.
Budinger and the Wildcats open the 2008-09 campaign with the Red-Blue Game on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. PDT.
