UA Olympic Notes for Friday, Aug. 22
** The U.S. baseball team missed out on a chance to play for a gold medal after losing 10-2 to Cuba in the semifinals. The Cubans broke open a tight game with six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The UA's Jason Donald was 1-for-3 with an RBI in the contest. Donald is hitting .316 in Olympic play. The USA will face Japan in the bronze medal game on Aug. 23. Earlier in the tournament (Aug. 20), the U.S. defeated Japan, 4-2.
** The Lithuania men's basketball team lost in the semifinals to Spain, 91-86. Center Robertas Javtokas hit all four field goal attempts and 7-of-10 free throws en route to 15 points, four rebounds, a steal and a block in 23 minutes played. Lithuania will face Argentina in Sunday's (Aug. 24) bronze medal game - a contest that is a rematch of the 2004 Olympic final.
