UA Women's Basketball Team to Celebrate Season at Awards Banquet
Tucson, Ariz - The University of Arizona Athletics Department will be honoring and recognizing the Arizona Women's Basketball team at a year-end banquet on Thursday, April 8 at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel & Suites. Registration and will begin at 5:30pm with dinner and program following at 5:45pm.
The event is open to the public. Individuals may purchase tickets for $25 per person. The evening will include dinner, awards and appearances by members of the Arizona coaching staff and team. To R.S.V.P. please call 520-621-2331 by March 31st.
The Wildcats finished the season with 14 wins, their most victories in a season since 2005. In their historic win over Oregon on January 16, Arizona scored a school-record 119 points while freshman guard Davellyn Whyte scored a single-game record 39 points. She was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year while she and Ify Ibekwe were named to the all-Pac-10 First Team. The Cats won the Iona College Tip-Off Tournament to start the season before advancing to the Pac-10 Tournament Quarterfinals for the 2nd-straight season at its conclusion.
