Arizona
Arizona Coach Mike Candrea:
At practice Wednesday night, I felt something a little different than I had in awhile. We have a quiet team and quiet scares me. I have never had a team without a talker. So I promised them that if they didn't talk they were gonna run. You should've heard it, it was so loud in here, there was a lot of passion. I've told them that we don't have enough talent just show up and think it's going to happen. This is the time of year when they should be dog tired after each game.
Arizona Pitcher Kenzie Fowler
I used the last two weeks to get my pitch count up, I was a little rusty but I'm ready for the next two weeks. The team's mentality is always the same no matter who is out there. It's just harder when there is only one of us.
Arizona Center Fielder Lauren Schutzler
Coach always tells us we need to get hot. It depends on if the team is working together and how we are, not as much the opponent.
Arizona Left Fielder Brittany Lastrapes
On goals this weekend:
Getting along without any glitches. We are supposed to fly through it. It puts more pressure on us but we have to get through it.
New Mexico State
NMSU Coach Kathy Rodolph
On being sent to Tucson:
We knew were going to face tough teams with outstanding talent. Fortunately for us, Tucson is close enough to home so we have some fans and alumni making the trip. I know the history and tradition Arizona has and we have great respect for them.
NMSU Infielder Hoku Nohara
On coming from Hawaii to Las Cruces, NM:
It was hard being by myself and not having my family with me, all my brothers and sisters. I've grown up a lot in the last four years and I have become very independent.
Texas Tech
Texas Tech Assistant Coach Kristie Fox
On where head coach Shanon Hays is:
"She is on a recruiting trip she will be here tonight. She went to go see someone."
On being back at Hilldenbrand Stadium after playing here:
"It's different being here without red, white and blue on."
Texas Tech Infielder Logan Hall
On coming back to her hometown:
"I grew up watching Arizona and her (Kristie Fox). I'm excited. I looked at her right when I saw we would be coming here. Kristie is dominating and she gets after it." "It means everything to me to get to play at a Division I school and get an education and play the game that I love. It's crazy to be here playing on this field." "I personally thought we would be playing at ASU and I don't know why I thought that but when I saw we would be playing here I was so excited."
On Texas Tech recruiting her:
"It was last minute during summer ball I went out and took a visit and it happened pretty quickly."
Harvard
Harvard Coach Jenny Allard
On facing Arizona on their home field
"It is daunting, there's no question about that. This season we have focused on ourselves and the game, and that is what we are going to continue to do."
On today's practice
"We wanted to go out and do some mental work. It's easy to become intimidated when you're playing on such a big stage. We just have to be able to bring it back to ourselves and tune out all the noise we're going to hear. It's the end of the year, and everyone is playing their best ball. We've got some good momentum coming to this game, we just need to be ready on the field."
Harvard Pitcher Rachel Brown
On Arizona's hitters
"I like to focus on each pitch, and not get intimidated by whoever I'm facing. I'm very excited to pitch against this team. I've played against a couple of Arizona's players before I came to Harvard, and I know I'm going to be pitching against some of the best hitter's I've ever faced."
Harvard Infielder Ellen Macadam
On playing at Arizona
"We are to be here. Arizona has a great legacy, and a great program, with legendary coaches and players. It's an amazing opportunity to be able to play them on their own field."
