Arizona senior diver Ben Grado (Conifer, Colo.) finished in eighth place on the 3-meter at the ATT USA Diving Championships on Saturday, qualifying him for the Olympic Trials in June of 2012.
"Ben missed a dive in the second round which put him in a hole,” Arizona head diving coach Michele Mitchell said. “but, he was able to recompose himself and came back strong in the next four rounds. I'm really proud of his redemption diving. It's hard when you miss a dive in a quality competition such as this one. Tomorrow is his best event (the 10-meter) and we hope to have a great final day of competition."
Grado will compete on the 10-meter finals on Sunday. Results and live scoring are available at www.usadiving.org.
