TUCSON--Michael Cooper of football, Margo Geer of swimming and diving, Kristin Griffin of soccer and Edgar Rivera-Morales of track and field were honored with the department's Student-Athlete of the Month award today.
The C.A.T.S. Academics staff cites students periodically throughout the year for outstanding academic effort, scholastic improvement and performance, and personal character. Athletes also are chosen for their role modeling -- both for other student-athletes and for youngsters in the community.
"Our academics staff chooses these outstanding young people for their performance and progress," athletics director Greg Byrne said. "Almost without fail we see these recipients accomplish all kinds of goals by the ends of their careers at UA,' he said.
Cooper is a true freshman from The Woodlands, Texas, Geer is a sophomore from Millford Center, Ohio, Griffin is a junior from Scottsdale, and Rivera-Morales is a junior from Agua Prieta, Mexico. They earned the SAM honor for November/December.
