Meet Notes 
TUCSON - The Arizona Wildcats No. 9 men's and No. 10 women's track and field teams will open the 2012 indoor season with the Lumberjack Invitational on Jan. 14. Held at Northern Arizona's J.L. Walkup Skydome, the field events start at 9 a.m., the running preliminaries start at 10 a.m. The running finals start time has yet to be determined.
Along with Arizona, Arizona State, Northern Arizona, New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Southern Utah and Cal-State Bakersfield will be competing on Saturday.
In the 2012 USTFCCCA preseason national poll, the Arizona men are ranked ninth and the women are ranked No. 10. The Northern Arizona men sit at No. 25 and the Arizona State women are ranked at the No. 16 spot.
The UA women return three All-Americans from the team that took second place at the MPSF Championships and seventh at the NCAA Championships. Two of those All-Americans happen to be NCAA Champions. Sophomore Baillie Gibson earned her All-America status in the shot put. Junior Julie Labonté was the NCAA Champion in the shot put and junior Brigetta Barrett was the high jump champion.
On the men's side, Arizona welcomes back seven Indoor All-Americans from the team that finished second at the MPSF Championships and 13th at the NCAA Championships. The distance medley relay team, consisting of sophomore Sean Delfani, junior James Eichberger, senior Abdi Hassan and sophomore Lawi Lalang. Lalang also earned All-America honors in the 3,000-meter run. Senior Stephen Sambu, junior Nick Ross and junior Edgar Rivera-Morales also earned All-America accolades.
The women's squad earned a runner-up finish at the MPSF Championships and a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships. On the men's side, the squad finished second at the MPSF Championships and 13th at the NCAA Championships.
