VOTE FOR JILL!
TUCSON - University of Arizona Wildcat track and field volunteer assistant coach Jill Camarena-Williams has been named a semifinalist for the 82nd Annual AAU Sullivan Award, given to the nation's top amateur athlete based on talent, leadership, character and sportsmanship, it was announced on Tuesday. Fans can vote for Jill to receive the award here.
Camarena-Williams who trains under UA assistant coach Craig Carter, work with Arizona's throwers. She is a 2011 World Championships medalist, an Olympian, the America record holder for the indoor shot put and is an 11-time U.S. Champion in the event. She also shares a tie for the America record in the outdoor shot put.
In addition to her outstanding accomplishments in the shot put ring, Camarena-Williams also loves to work with the youth in her communities. She is presently working with the young women in her church in Tucson. She works with ages 13-18, encouraging them to be women of integrity and self-worth. The goal is to teach the young women different skills which they need to be strong, caring women who also have desire to give back to their families and communities.
