"It's an honor to join a program with such a rich tradition and history," said Henson. "To be a part of that is special. It was an opportunity I could not pass up. I know Jim as a well-respected, high-character person who is dedicated to the game of golf. I am very excited to be here."

Prior to his time at Lake Travis, Henson also served as the girls' head coach and boys' assistant coach at Medina Valley H.S. in Castroville, Texas, (2007-09), guiding his teams to both district and regional championships. Henson started his coaching career at Boerne Independent School District in Boerne, Texas during the 2004-05 academic year.

In addition to the organization of practice plans and team travel, Henson was also responsible for hosting as many as four tournaments and raising as much as $20,000 annually.

A native of Boerne, Texas, Henson is a 2003 graduate of the University of Texas, where he earned a B.A. in geography. Prior to attending Texas, Henson played one year of college golf at Texas State University (1999-2000).

Henson and his wife, Rachel, were married in July.

"We are very excited about the addition of Coach Henson to the Wildcat golf program," said Anderson. "His work ethic matches our standards at the U of A. He brings youthful energy and innovative ideas to connect with our team now and in the future. Furthermore, he is a proven winner with multiple state championships as a golf coach, is hungry for success and will be in the college game for a long time."
