BA Preseason All-America Teams | Arizona Ticket Information
TUCSON, Ariz. - The Pac-12's reigning batting champion, Arizona junior outfielder Johnny Field, was named to Baseball America's Preseason All-America Third Team, it was announced by the publication on Thursday.
Field enters his junior campaign as the club's top returning offensive player. A Pac-12 all-academic and all-conference team selection as a sophomore, Field batted .370 with a team-leading 72 runs scored in 2012. He was sensational during the three-game sweep of the Tucson Regional to open postseason play, batting .533 with 10 runs batted in and eight runs scored, including a grand slam.
In 65 games played, Field collected 18 doubles, seven triples and three home runs to go with 11 stolen bases and 44 runs batted in. The Las Vegas, Nev., native drew 43 walks and was hit by a pitch 11 times, while striking out just 28 times all season. His .476 on base percentage led all Pac-12 players.
Field, a 2012 Pac-12 Second Team All-Academic selection, was named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-America Second Team by Collegiate Baseball newspaper in December.
The first opportunity for fans to catch Field and the Wildcats in action will be at Meet the Team Day on Saturday, Feb. 2. Gates at Hi Corbett Field will open at 10 a.m. for batting practice, followed by an intrasquad scrimmage at noon and a post-game autograph session with head coach Andy Lopez and the 2013 Arizona baseball team.
Admission and parking to "Meet the Team Day" is free, with seating available on a first-come, first-serve basis in all areas (no reserved seating for this event). Concessions, schedule cards and posters will be available, and fans can purchase season tickets, mini-plans or individual game tickets on site for the upcoming season.
Arizona will then open its 2013 promotional schedule on Opening Day (Feb. 15) with a special National Championship Recognition Night. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative 2012 national championship rally towel and there will be a postgame fireworks show.
Select stars from the championship team will be on hand for a pregame autograph session. They will also throw out the first pitch for the 6 p.m. game.
Arizona hosts 38 games at Hi Corbett Field this spring. Be sure to check out all of the season and individual game promotions at www.arizonawildcats.com.
