Three-year letterman and captain in 1985, led UA to 1985 College World Series with a 13-8 record and was named All PAC-10 and All America. Ranks in UA all-time top ten, season and career, in wins, starts, innings pitched, and strikeouts. Threw no-hitter in 1984 against Cal State-Fullerton. First-round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1985. Started first and seventh games of 1988 major league World Series, and had lowest earned run average in the National League in 1989.
