Jason Greer HOF

Jason Greer was universally known as "Red". He came to the University of Arizona in 1931 and was a three time All-Border Conference right end. Jason won three letters in football and two in baseball. In football, J.F. "Pop" McKale often referred to Jason as "half a line" since he was able to take care of everything that came his way. He played two years of baseball as a catcher and outfielder. Jason earned both his bachelor's and master's degree at the university. After graduation, Jason returned to his high school alma mater to coach. He eventually returned to Tucson and became a part of Tucson athletics for the next 38 years. Jason was an assistant coach at Tucson High School (under Rollin T. Gridley) for eleven years and the head coach for eight. His 1951 and 1952 teams won mythical state titles. Jason was named Tucson High's first athletic director in 1956 and held that post until he retired in 1975.
