Lettered twice in football and three times in basketball. Had a distinguished coaching and administrative career in Tucson Public Schools. Served as head football and head basketball coach at Tucson High School, and principal at Catalina High. Gridley Junior High School named after him. Played under Hall of Famers J.F. "Pop" McKale and Fred Enke, and coached seven other members of UA Hall of Fame on the high school level.
