Starting quarterback on outstanding Arizona team of 1937 which posted a season record of eight wins and two losses. Led team in rushing yards gained per attempt. Had a distinguished record of service in World War II as a highly decorated fighter pilot. He was a member of the Air Force "Acrojets" (Thunderbirds) from 1946-52, leader in 1951 and 1952. Served as president of Alumni Association in 1958, chairman of the 1967 Alumni Fund Dive and as a member of the UA President's Club and University of Arizona Foundation. Recipient of 1968 Alumni Service Award. Member Arizona Board of Regents, 1971-80; president 1976.
