Rachel began cheering at New Mexico State and often wondered what it would be like to cheer at a different university. When she came to the University of Arizona she wanted to help lead the UA students in spirit and pride, so she joined the cheer squad.
Rachel's most memorable moment as a cheerleader was in high school when her squad won first place in cheer and cheered with music for the first time in seven years. Since her team won they have changed the rules in New Mexico so that the same squad can no longer win in both events. She also enjoys the bacon in Manhattan, Kansas.
Rachel says that her role as a UA cheerleader is to promote school spirit. She says when a crowd sees the squad having fun cheering, they are more likely to standup and make some noise.
