Gene Johnson joins Arizona's staff this year from Klein Forest High School in the greate Houston area, where he has been head coach the past four seasons.
He was promoted from offensive coordinator to the post and compiled a 37-11 record.
A 1992 graduate of Louisiana Tech, Johnson played quarterback there and later for the Arizona Rattlers, and St. Louis and Memphis of the Arena League. He began his career as a graduate assistant at Southern Mississippi in 1994 and 1995.
Her earned his master's degree at Southern Miss in 1995.
Johnson coached 2004 UA incoming freshmen Bobby McCoy and McCollins Umeh at Klein Forest.
