ARIZONA
2007: Indoors, Best placed second in the shot put at the TCR Race
Productions Invite, the Dan DeHart Invitational, and the MPSF Indoor
Championships. Had a personal best throw of 19.32m at the MPSF
Championships in the shot put. During the outdoor season, Best competed
at the Arizona International where he finished second and matched his personal
best throw of 19.32m. He was an NCAA indoor All-American in the
shot put with a sixth-place finish.
2006: Indoors, Best placed second at the MPSF Championships in the shot put
with a personal best indoor throw of 18.50m (60-8 1⁄4). After redshirting the
majority of the outdoor season, Best competed at the Pac-10 Championships for
the Wildcats, placing fifth in the shot put (18.23m, 59-9 3⁄4).
MESA COLLEGE
Helped team to a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA national championships.
Two-time indoor shot put champion and five-time NJCAA All-American.
HIGH SCHOOL
Buena High School, Sierra Vista, Ariz.: Two year letter winner in track and field in high school, where he also lettered in football and basketball. Team captain in 2002 and 2003, while also earning the teams Most Valuable Athlete honors in 2003. Selected to the All-League first team as well as the all-5A South Region team in 2002 and 2003 for both discus and shot put. Two time region champion in those events as well. Earned all-state honors for class 5A in 2003, when he won the Arizona state championship in the shot put. Had personal best throws of 63-4 in the shot put and 175-10 in the discus, both of which are school records.
