Finished third at the Pac-10 Championships with a throw of 217 feet, 3 inches... Placed third at the Sun Angel Classic, after throwing for 221 feet, 1 ½ inches... 2001 (Sophomore): Threw a Pac-10 qualifying mark of 217 feet, 6 inches... 2000 (Freshman): Qualified for the Pac-10 Championships as a freshman with a throw of 217 feet at the Jim Click Shootout... High School
Interlake High School, Redmond, Wash.: Earned two letters in track and field and two in tennis... All-state at the 3A level in both of his seasons as a track and field athlete... Threw 225 feet, 5 inches as a senior, a mark that was No. 3 in the nation in 1999... Won the state 3A title with a throw of 222 feet, 8 inches... Threw the javelin for only two years in high school but became one of the top prep throwers in the nation.
