The Arizona Gymnastics team, in conjunction with the Pac-12 Conference, announced its schedule, along with times and television information for the majority of the 2014-15 season.
At the conclusion of last season , the Cats were ranked No. 24 in the nation after a second place finish at the Pac-12 Championships and a season -high score of 196.925.
“Last year, we did some of the best gymnastics we have ever done,” said Ryden. “But we lacked consistency. Going into this year, we want to have that same level of gymnastics but learn from the consistency issues we had.”
The GymCats will head to Alabama for their first meet of the season on Jan. 9 (7:30 p.m. MST). The season opener at McKale is scheduled for Jan. 16 (7 p.m. MST), a quad meet against Sacramento State, Wisconsin-Stout, and Chicago-Illinois.
The Pac-12 Network will televise three of Arizona’s away meets this season. The team will travel to UCLA on Jan. 19 (7 p.m. MST). Then Oregon will host Arizona on Feb. 7 (2 p.m. MST). The Pac-12 Championships will be held at Arizona State on Mar. 21 (T.B.D.).
Pac-12 Networks will televise the Wildcats home meet against rival Arizona State on Feb. 16 (6 p.m. MST). They will also air the home meet against California (Feb. 28, 5 p.m. MST).
Aside from Pac-12, televised meets the GymCats will host three additional meets; the first being the season opener on Jan 16 (7 p.m. MST). On Jan. 31 (4 p.m. MST), Utah will compete against Arizona at McKale. Next, the Wildcats host Denver on Mar. 14 (4 p.m. MST).
The Wildcats return 13 gymnasts from last year’s team and welcomes two freshmen to this season’s team.
“I think beam has the biggest room for improvement and has the most potential to grow,” said Ryden. “We have the most pure talent on beam but it was also the event that lacked consistency the most. The girls have really been focused on that since last year.”
