Day of Preparation for UA Soccer

Day of Preparation for UA Soccer

Stillwater, Okla. - The University of Arizona Wildcat team arrived late Wednesday evening in Stillwater, Okla. The match versus the Oklahoma State Cowgirls is set for Friday at 1 p.m. MST. Thursdday, is the day for acclimation and preparation.

First up for the Wildcats after breakfast was a trip to the Cowgirls Soccer Complex where Friday's match will take place. The team was alotted one hour of time on the field. Although Thursday's training session was short, the Wildcats were focused and intense in their drills. The last portion of practice, the team was split up into four teams of five and they did a quick tournament to crown thet top team on the day.

"The main thing was to get moving and shaking out on the field a little bit," head coach Tony Amato said. "We wanted to check out the facility, we haven't been here before so we wanted to check out the field, get used to the bounce of the ball. We use an NCAA Wilson ball which is not a ball that we use in our league. It was really just a time to get a feel for our surroundings, get used to the ball, get our legs going a little bit and get acclimated to where we're at."

Next on the agenda for the Wildcats came lunch at a deli near the campus. Then the team has a few hours to do homework and catch up on their school work. Following dinner, the squad will convene for a film session.

"We want to get a good meal in us and then at the film session, just fine tune the game plan," Amato said. "We want to re-hit some things we've been working on during the week and just set them up as some reminders to make sure they can carry it out during the game."

Friday's match will be available to watch here and live stats can be found here.
