TUCSON, Ariz. – Paced by redshirt senior safety Jared Tevis’ third career honor, Arizona football placed six of its student-athletes on the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Teams, it was announced by the league on Monday.
At the defensive back position, Tevis earned his third first-team honor. He graduated in May with an undergraduate degree in finance and a GPA of 3.28.
At the running back position, redshirt junior Jared Baker was named Pac-12 All-Academic Second-Team. He holds a GPA of 3.30 with a major in sustainable built environments. Sophomore Jake Matthews earned his first career accolade. At the linebacker position, he earned second-team honors with a 3.55 GPA as a pre-neuroscience and cognitive sciences major.
Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Calvin Allen (3.23, business), redshirt freshman receiver Abraham Mendivil (3.29, no major) and redshirt junior kicker Casey Skowron (3.37, psychology) were named to the Honorable Mention team.
Arizona will face Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Fri., Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. MST. The game will air on FOX with Tim Brandon, Joel Klatt and Jenny Taft on the call.
