Four Seniors Earn All-Conference Recognition

Four Seniors Earn All-Conference Recognition

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona punter Drew Riggleman was named to the Pac-12 Football All-Conference Second Team, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and announced Tuesday by the conference office. Riggleman was joined by kicker Casey Skowron along with defenders Will Parks and Reggie Gilbert as honorable mention selections.

Riggleman, a native of Tucson and a second-team honoree last season, turned in a strong senior campaign. He finished the regular season second in the conference with a 44.8-yard punting average, booming his 49 total punts for 2,197 yards. Riggleman, who also handled place kicks for Skowron, placed 19 punts insides the 20-yardline. His 44.8-yard average would rank fourth-best in school single-season history if it holds up through an undetermined bowl game. Last season, Riggleman’s 46.1-yard average was second-best in program history.

Skowron, who handled kickoffs and place kicks, turned in a stellar senior season as well. The Phoenix, Ariz., native drilled 17-of-20 field goal attempts while making 53-of-55 extra point tries this season. His tally of 104 points is fourth-best in the conference.

Parks and Gilbert, both 12-game starters at safety and defensive end, respectively, were leaders of a Wildcat defense that suffered through an injury-plagued season. Parks, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., finished the regular season with a team-high 72 tackles, including 6.5 for loss, along with seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Gilbert, a native of Phoenix, collected 36 tackles, including 7.5 for loss and 3/5 sacks, while forcing one fumble.

Arizona finished the regular season with a 6-6 record and is bowl eligible for the fourth-consecutive year under head coach Rich Rodriguez. It is the first time the Wildcats will participate in a bowl in four straight years in the 112-year history of the program.

Official bowl announcements are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 6.
