TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona men’s golf team will travel to Palo Alto this week to compete in The Goodwin hosted by Stanford, March 26-28. George Cunningham, Alex McMahon, Brenden Redfern, Peter Koo and Kolton Lapa will compose the field for the team tournament. The Wildcats tee off Thursday at 1:15 p.m. MST against 23 teams from across the nation.
Teams will be playing at the Stanford University Golf Course, a par-70, 6,727-yard course. Teams will play 54 holes, 18 per day. The low four scores from each round will make up the team score.
Arizona did not compete in this tournament in 2014. The Stanford Cardinal won their own tournament that year, with junior Patrick Rodgers taking the individual crown.
Two weeks ago in the San Diego Classic, the Wildcats posted one of the strongest rounds of the season on the final day. They averaged 73.2 strokes over the 18 holes, which is 1.2 strokes above par for the course. Freshman George Cunningham carded two under par and took eighth place overall, his third consecutive Top 10 finish.
Freshman Peter Koo is making his second straight appearance in the lineup, after taking a share of 62nd place in the San Diego Classic. Senior Alex McMahon will continue in the second slot for the Wildcats after tying for 52nd in San Diego, while senior Brenden Redfern and junior Kolton Lapa return to the lineup.
