Wildcat Movement Looking to Eclipse Membership Record

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Athletics has begun its push to eclipse last year’s Wildcat Club membership record of 12,604 through the 2015 Wildcat Movement campaign. The Wildcat Movement encourages individuals to invest in success by making a tax-deductible contribution of $100 or more to help support Arizona Athletics. Last year, the Wildcat Club broke its previous membership record of 11,220, set in 2012, and the final number of 12,604 members ranked second in the Pac-12.

“We were very excited with the results from last year’s Wildcat Movement that resulted in unprecedented membership in the Wildcat Club, but there is still work to be done,” said Arizona Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. “We need to continue to pull the rope in the same direction and expand our membership base, so we can provide our programs and student-athletes with the support they need to compete with our colleagues in the Pac-12 and around the country. We are in the midst of one of the most successful years in recent memory and now is the perfect time for you to show your commitment by investing in the current and future success of Arizona Athletics.”

Now in its fifth year, the Wildcat Movement has a positive impact on Arizona Athletics’ operating costs, its 500 student-athletes and the support system within the department. By joining the Wildcat Movement, members provide assistance in areas that include scholarship costs, academics, life skills, strength and conditioning, equipment and accessories, travel and team building. Each one of these areas, and a number of other items, are essential to providing an environment where student-athletes can reach their potential both academically and athletically, while preparing them for life after college and athletics.

This year’s campaign will feature multiple videos following various Wildcats on their paths to greatness, similar digital components, direct connections and social media elements that aim to educate potential members on the value of joining the Wildcat Movement. In addition to providing support, individuals who join the Wildcat Movement become Wildcat Club members and receive annual giving benefits based on giving level. Additional information regarding benefits can be found at www.wildcatclub.org/benefits/membership-benefits.
