Hailey & Moline Advance in 400-meter Hurdles at USA Champs

EUGENE, Ore.Current Wildcat Nnenya Hailey and former Wildcat Georganne Moline advanced to the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles on Friday, June 26 at the USA Championships in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field. Hailey set a new personal best with a time of 56.43, while Moline clocked a time of 55.62. They will run again on Saturday, June 27 at 1:37 p.m. MST.

Sophomore Tiana Bonds competed in the Jr. Heptathlon on Thursday and Friday. She finished in fifth place with 5,105 points. Bonds won the 100-meter hurdles on Thursday and set a new personal best in the high jump by clearing a mark of 5-4.5 (1.64m).

Arizona alumna Shapri Romero advanced to the semifinals of the 400-meter run on Thursday by clocking a time of 52.72, good for 16th place. In Friday’s semifinals, Romero ran a time of 52.22 and did not advance to the finals.

Volunteer assistant coach Jill Camarena-Williams competed in the shot put on Thursday. She took fourth place in the event with a toss of 61-4.75 (18.71m) and fell just short of making team USA for World Championships.

Alumnus Nick Ross earned sixth place in the high jump on Friday after clearing a height of 7-4.5 (2.25m). He did not earn a spot on team USA for the World Championships as well.

Former Wildcat LaTisha Holden competed in the 100-meter hurdles on Friday as well. She clocked a time of 13.07 (+2.6w), but fell just short of advancing to the semifinals.

Competition will resume on Saturday, June 27 starting with Nick Mossberg in the pole vault at 11:50 a.m. MST.
