ACADEMIC COUNSELING
Each of our 20 teams has a designated Academic Counselor to provide exceptional academic support throughout their time as a student-athletes at the University of Arizona.
- Guidance through the students' transition to the University, adjustment to academic life on campus, and assistance with personal challenges encountered throughout their college experience.
- Academic planning, including major selection and course scheduling for degree requirements that adhere to NCAA, PAC-12, and University requirements for academic eligibility.
- Tracking system of student-athletes' academic performance during each semester, and their progress toward graduation in their chosen academic program.
STRATEGIC LEARNING SERVICES/LEARNING SPECIALISTS
Learning Specialists + Assistant Learning Specialists = Strategic Learning Services
Learning specialists and assistant learning specialists comprise the Strategic Learning Services program within C.A.T.S. Academics. They work one-on-one or in small groups with student-athletes who would benefit from individualized skill instruction, multimodal learning strategies, or assistive technologies. This collaboration guides student-athletes to ensure their:
- Smooth transition into the University of Arizona
- Accessibility of resources
- Utilization of beneficial study strategies, such as:
- Organization
- Notetaking
- Test prep and reflection
- Reading comprehension
- Writing fluency
- Time management
TUTORING
- Tutoring is our most-used service within C.A.T.S. Academics and we proudly employ very competent and well-rounded tutors of all scholastic disciplines. Our program is CRLA Certified, as are our tutors, and we work to empower our students by providing a positive environment for learning. Appointments are typically an hour and are always FREE of charge. We aim to fulfill every request for tutoring within 48 hours.

- Math Center – C.A.T.S. Academics Tutoring Services offers Math tutoring support, and lots of it. Whether it’s College Algebra, Calculus I, Calculus II, or Business Math, C.A.T.S. offers lots of ways to get Math assistance. We can help you with: Math Placement Exam, MATH100, MATH105, MATH 109C, MATH111, MATH112, MATH113, MATH 116, MATH120R, MATH122A/B, MATH125, and MATH129.
- Writing Center – to help you with whatever your writing goals are, the C.A.T.S. Writing Center is here to help! Drop-In and individual appointments allow assistance in all areas of writing across all disciplines, but especially first year composition.
