Tammy Foster
Tammy Foster earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Arizona. As a daughter of an educator who served in the Marana school district, Ms. Foster grew up in the Marana community, graduated from Marana High, and is a parent of Marana High alumni. She is described as a pillar of the community who is devoted to her students and to the community at large.
Ms. Foster has served 28 years as an educator at Marana High School. She currently co-teaches English, sharing classroom instruction with a special education teacher. Collaboratively the two develop new strategies to engage students, ensure special needs are met, and learning is encouraged. Referred to as a master teacher who leads by example, Ms. Foster has helped to develop the characters, skills, and abilities of thousands of students. She practices the latest in pedagogy, loves trying new strategies and always goes the extra mile for her students.
As a dynamic and engaging leader, Ms. Foster seeks opportunities to support students and colleagues through various programs and mentorship. Her commitment is evident in her work developing curriculum, professional learning communities, and career pathways. She is the facilitator of the DCE program assisting high school students in finding scholarships and employment. As a lead, in the Freshman Academy she created a parent survival guide to support parents and coordinated a variety of activities to assist students in transition. She is also actively involved in the Marana Alumni Association, supports PTO and Grad Night programs, co-teaches Saturday School, and teaches in a transition program for at-risk students.
