SHREVEPORT, La. - Arizona football defeated Boston College, 42-19, in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl Game in record-breaking fashion, Monday, at Independence Stadium. Senior quarterback B.J. Denker was named Offensive MVP and sophomore William Parks was named Defensive MVP.
The victory gave UA eight wins for a second-consecutive year, marking the first back-to-back eight-win seasons since 2008-09. Along with bowl game records, multiple school records were also broken for the Wildcats.
The six Wildcat touchdowns tied the Bowl record for most touchdowns. The Wildcats also recorded the most first downs in the bowl’s history with 49.
The Wildcats’ offensive clinic was led by Denker’s 275 passing yards. True freshman Nate Phillips had 193 receiving yards and recorded the first 100-yard receiving game for Arizona on the season. He also broke the school record for most receiving yards in a bowl game as well as most receiving yards in a game by a freshman in school history.
Ka’Deem Carey finished off his junior season with 16-straight 100-plus yard games with his 169-yard performance. As well, he has officially become the all-time all-purpose leader in yardage. Prior to Carey, the record was 5,392 yards, held by Dennis Northcutt.
On defense, the Wildcats held the Eagles to just two touchdowns and two field goals. Jake Fischer tied his career-high tackles with 14.
